Installing and registering Preflight Designer™
The Preflight Designer XTension and Preflight QXP4 Plug XTension is installed into your QuarkXPress XTension folder.
A Preflight Designer 1.0.3 folder is installed in the location of your choice. This folder contains the Preflight Designer application, ReadMe document, and Quick Start Guide.
After launching Preflight Designer, you will be requested to serialize and register the software. Please enter the serial number located on the back of the manual. If you do not have a serial number, you can choose to run Preflight Designer in demo mode; demo mode allows full functionality for 30 days.
Please register using one of the built-in electronic registration methods. If you do not have a modem, fax/modem, or printer, you may fill out the registration card in the back of the manual.
Microtek Scanners
Microtek scanners may interfere with the built-in electronic registration process. If you are using a Microtek scanner, please turn it off before attempting to register Preflight Designer Edition. You may turn the scanner back on once the registration process is complete.

Collection Segmenting
If you are compressing the collection of files in Preflight Designer, you can choose to segment your compressed archive into predefined sizes. When you click the Collect button you will notice an additional pop-up menu that displays archive segment sizes.
Printing Options
You now have 2 options for printing:
1. Printing the Job Ticket. When the Job Ticket is the frontmost window and you choose Print from the File Menu you will print only the information found in the job jacket.
2. Printing Job Information. When the Job Jacket is the frontmost window and you choose Print from the File Menu you will print the Job Jacket information.

Advanced Font Collection Features
You now have 3 options for font collection in the Collection Setup dialog:
1. Collect All Suitcase (Could collect unused fonts)
This option will collect the entire font suitcase as they exist on disk.
2. Combine Only Used Fonts Into Single Suitcase
This option places only the used screen fonts into a single suitcase. This suitcase will be named with the same name as the Preflight Job File.
3. Collect Only Used Fonts Into Separate Suitcases
This option places used screen font families into separate family suitcases. This option is recommended for Diamonsoft Font Reserve users, to avoid collecting temporary suitcases.
Remove Picture Previews from Collected Job Files
To save disk space for jobs with many images, you can now choose to remove the picture previews from the collected Preflight Job File in the Collection Setup dialog.

General Notes and Compatibility Comments
The 1.5.1 version of Azalea Prepress XTension may interfere with the Preflight Designer XTension. The 1.7 version, now offered by Luminous, addresses this problem. It is available from the www.luminous.com web site, when a copy of Trapwise or Presswise is downloaded.
Preflight Designer reports DCS pictures, created with extra channels by In Software's Platemaker Plug-In, as being in grayscale mode.
